When it comes to roof cleaning and your St. Augustine home, you do not want to hire just anyone to clean your roof. Too much pressure can cause serious damage to your roof. Low pressure, however, can safely remove the algae that otherwise eats away at your roofing tiles Some folks do not realize just how serious a problem algae can cause over time.
At First Coast Home Pros, we understand that a low-pressure roof cleaning is a safe roof cleaning. After all, why use more pressure than is necessary to get your roof practically sparkling clean and risk putting your roof in jeopardy?
We use the best tools and the safest cleaning solutions to give your home that clean look you’re after. Our cleaning job looks just as good months after our visit as it did a few hours later. If you are in the market for a roof cleaning, contact our team at (904) 383-7721, or send an email to us at service@firstcoasthomepros.com to schedule your free price quote.
Our Techniques
At First Coast Home Pros, we use only those chemicals and techniques that the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturer’s Association (ARMA) approves. What does this mean for you? We do not use sodium hydroxide nor any other harsh chemicals, and we do not believe in high-pressure systems.
Roof types we clean include:
- Shingles comprised of asphalt, fiberglass, or wood
- Tiles comprised of ceramic, concrete, or barrel
- Metal
- Rubber
- Slate
We can bring out the best in your roof (which, we assure you, is still there!). We do this by employing a process that is safer and gentler on your roof than that used by the competition. We use a proprietary biodegradable formula that removes even the toughest stains and algae, which would otherwise ultimately reduce the lifespan of your roof by eating through its tiles.
Why “Non-Pressure” Is Bad
Some companies, realizing high-pressure cleanings are not the way to go, will instead try to sell you on the idea of “non-pressure” cleanings. You may think, well if low pressure is good for my roof, then non-pressure must be great for it… right?
Actually, no. Non-pressure means no pressure at all. Companies who employ “non-pressure” techniques simply saturate your roof with harsh chemicals, then leave and let it sit without doing anything further. While this saves them time, in the end, it is not a good idea to allow harsh chemicals to sit on your roof and bake in the hot sun. This ultimately weakens the adhesive that holds the tiles to your roof and can cause them to come unglued.
In fact, the ARMA specifically advises against non-pressure cleanings. They instruct the technician to rinse off the solution after he has applied it. With us, you never have to worry about harsh chemical runoff posing harm to your plants or leaching into the soil after it runs off your roof. This is one of the many reasons why we do not believe in using harsh chemicals as part of our cleaning process.
